(Reported by Reziwanguli and Jiaqi Gao) On May 31, as International Children's Day approached, the fifth and final session of "Science Rhymes, Childlike Whispers: The Wisdom and Fun Workshop," a signature public service program of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Wuhan Institute of Technology, was held in the Heshun Community of Fozuling Subdistrict. Guided by Party-building, the event mobilized graduating graduate student Party member volunteers and drew on the strength of the "Little Blue Diamond" Volunteer Association, bringing aesthetic education and cultural heritage to the children's doorstep. Through a uniquely creative class on intangible cultural heritage, it offered the community's children a special gift imbued with both cultural depth and festive warmth. "Science Rhymes, Childlike Whispers: The Wisdom and Fun Workshop" is a volunteer service brand established by the School of Materials Science and Engineering to meet the needs of the community on a regular basis. Over the past five sessions, volunteers have stepped out of their labs and into the community, pouring their passion into every moment of companionship beyond their academic studies. This concluding session innovatively integrated landscape painting and calligraphy aesthetics, explorations into the origins of Chinese characters, and intangible cultural heritage clay art, guiding the children to experience the unique charm of fine traditional Chinese culture as they admired paintings, wrote characters, and molded clay.

Painting mountains and rivers, touching the thousand-year cultural lineage through brush and ink.

The activity began with stunning images of China's majestic mountains and rivers, drawing the children into the world of Eastern aesthetics. Moving from landscape painting appreciation to exploring the evolution of the oracle bone characters for "mountain" and "water," the children made a delightful discovery: the ancients used brush and ink as their tools and the landscape as their scroll, bringing to life the wisdom that Chinese characters were born from the very mountains and rivers themselves. A community calligraphy teacher then gave a live demonstration, writing phrases such as "Landscape of China" and "Pursuing Knowledge and Progress," and guided the children as they picked up their brushes and moistened them with ink. The young calligraphy enthusiasts bent over their desks, practicing their strokes, as a quiet sense of cultural identity began to blossom amidst the fragrance of ink.

Ancient charm renewed at their fingertips, childlike hearts and deft hands shape a splendid chapter.

In the intangible cultural heritage clay creation segment, the children transformed into little inheritors of tradition. With volunteers guiding them hand in hand, they merged Chinese character writing with clay sculpting to complete an array of miniature scroll works. After the creation, the individual scrolls were joined together in order, forming a giant panoramic scroll of mountains and rivers. One child, one piece of art; one scroll, one heart. Every glimmer of childlike innocence converged into a river of brilliant stars, capturing the children's love for intangible cultural heritage and the warm memories of the festival.

Party Pioneers Demonstrate Commitment, Community Service Puts Original Aspiration into Practice.

The graduating graduate student Party member volunteers stepped out of their labs and into the community, infusing every moment of companionship with youthful passion and a sense of responsibility. "Seeing the normally restless children quietly practicing calligraphy, and watching their eyes light up as they held the little scrolls they had made with their own hands—at that moment, you just knew this commitment was truly worthwhile," one volunteer shared after the event. The five-session classroom has now come to a successful close, but the relay of love and responsibility never stops. Through their youthful actions, the graduate student Party member volunteers embodied the ideal of the new era's youth to "aim high, cultivate virtue, develop great talents, and shoulder heavy responsibilities," turning their warm companionship into a vivid classroom for promoting fine traditional Chinese culture and practicing the core socialist values.

Aesthetic Education Concludes and a New Journey Begins, Culture Nourishes the Heart with a Lasting Fragrance.

From the very first to the fifth session, from intangible cultural heritage kites to landscape paintings and calligraphy, "Science Rhymes, Childlike Whispers: The Wisdom and Fun Workshop" has accompanied the community's children on a journey filled with creativity and laughter. Five sessions, passed on like a relay, with the original aspiration never wavering. The volunteers have carried the cultural torch with their youthful strength, allowing fine traditional Chinese culture to blossom anew in the innocence of childhood. This conclusion is not an end, but the prelude to many more beautiful encounters. In the future, the School of Materials Science and Engineering will remain rooted in the community, lighting up young hearts with the gentle spark of youth, so that the seeds of traditional culture may thrive on this cherished land for generations to come.
